Diana Quellin b 1944 is a Boscastle artist and printmaker. She has an MA in printmaking and has a long association with the sea, having lived in Hawaii before moving to Cornwall.

'To make my work I use a variety of printing techniques; mainly steel plate etching, collagraphy and working directly onto the printing plate. Often more than one technique is used in a single work.

The printing is done with oil based inks and maybe intaglio or relief or a mixture of both.

The texture of the work is as important as the colour and my prints often have an embossed surface.

I like the use of print because of its textual qualities and because one is working on the edge of control.  There are accidental effects that may develop an idea or ruin it.

Although each monotype is unique, ideas evolve through repetition, and changing elements a bit at a time.'
